Growing Special Needs School, 'Major' Roadwork Update This Week

Stories you can expect to see on Patch this week.

It’s shaping up to be a busy week in Mahwah. Here are some stories you can expect to see this week on Patch. If you have a story idea you’d like to see covered, email it to Jessica.mazzola@patch.com.

Sage Day Growing

A special needs, therapeutic school in Mahwah is expanding. The Sage Day School is planning to rearrange its structure slightly and add in another grade level, due to what organizers call a demand from the community for the special type of educational environment the school provides. Check out Patch for a look into the school, and news about what it plans to add for the next school year, this week.

West Airmount Roadwork Update

The township has been prepping for a major roadwork project on West Airmount Avenue since last year. The project, which will likely start preliminary work next week, will require the road to be completely shut down for part of the construction period. Township officials have brought up concerns about the closure, as West Airmount is one of the only roadways connecting the east and west sides of Mahwah. Get an update on the project this week on Patch.

Mahwah’s Possible Highlands Center

The Mahwah Township Council has requested more information from its professional planner before it will decide whether or not it should apply to the Highlands Council to add a “center” or centers to the township’s environmental map. If a center were to be created, the area inside it would be exempt from Highlands environmental regulations. Get updated on the  status of the center designation consideration this week.
