Should school have been canceled? Let us know by taking our poll.

The “historic” snowstorm was anything but historic - at least as of Tuesday morning.
Forecasters predicted Mahwah would see 15 to 24 inches of snow accumulation but according to Township officials, snow accumulations in Mahwah were at a mere 3-4 inches as of 10:19 a.m. Tuesday.
Mahwah Mayor Laforet said the Department of Public Works was in the final stages of cleanup and would be sent home later today to rest.

The Mayor also wanted to “personally thank” all essential employees, such as police officers, firefighters, emergency responders and the DPW, who did not go home last night so that they would be available.
“We appreciate [them] and we appreciate the residents staying off the roads,” Mayor Laforet said.

National Weather Service Meteorologist Gary Szatkowski issued an apology via twitter saying, “My deepest apologies to many key decision makers and so many members of the general public.”
“You made a lot of tough decisions expecting us to get it right, and we didn’t,” read another tweet. “Once again, I’m sorry.”
The apology comes after Governor Chris Christie issued a travel ban and most schools and businesses decided to shut down Tuesday.
The travel ban has been lifted and Mayor Laforet said the Township will be resuming normal operations Wednesday.
