Joyce Kilmer Exhibit on Display at Mahwah Library, Free Program to be Held Jan. 25
"Joyce Kilmer On Stage" will include reenactments based on historical research of seven of his most-admired poems.

Poet patriot Joyce Kilmer’s life and legacy are now on display at the Mahwah Public Library, where a free musical/literary program is set for the Winter Room on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 2 p.m. Kilmer wrote one of the most famous poems in the English language, “Trees,” in his home at the southwest corner of Armour and Airmount Roads on February 2, 1913.
The Joyce Kilmer Society of Mahwah will present a novel program at the Library entitled “Joyce Kilmer On Stage” that includes reenactments based on historical research of seven of his most-admired poems.

In addition, there will be music in the show and the program will open with a musical introduction with excerpts from famed bandleader Stan Kenton’s signature instrumental, “Artistry in Rhythm.”
In the finale, Mahwah-born classical soloist Helen Soboleski will sign the Oscar Rosbach musical adaptation of “Trees” with accompanist Jozef Soroka.

Actor Tom Walker, a graduate of Mahwah High School and Montclair State University, directs the show and is part of a reenactment. The narrator is Alex Michelini, founder of the Joyce Kilmer Society.
In addition to “Trees,” the program will include reenactments of Kilmer’s “The House With Nobody In It,” “The Twelve-Forty-Five,” “Dave Lilly,” “Delicatessen,” “The Snowman in the Yard” and “Rouge Bouquet.”
