League Of Women Voters Bergen Chapter Elects Board, Renews Commitments
The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley, contained within Bergen County, elects its directorial board and renews commitment to voters.

FORT LEE, NJ — The League of Women Voters of Northern Valley has elected and installed its board of directors and officers at an annual meeting, and outlined plans on how to help voters make informed decisions in the Nov. 8 general election, a news release said.
Leonia residents Nike Prieston-Bach was named President, and Joyce Luhrs was named Vice President of Marketing. Fort Lee resident Vicki Sidrow is continuing as Treasurer and Financial Secretary. Hackensack resident Andrew Meehan was elected to the board for the first time as Secretary. Dumont resident Sally Tayeb was named a director and will also serve as Creative Director of the chapter's website and newsletter. Park Ridge resident and former President Lucy Heller continued as a director. Harrington Park resident Anne Lander will be voted to the board at the chapter's next meeting this fall.
Longtime directors and league members of 50 years Shirley Shapiro, of Tenafly, Lorraine Cohen, Englewood, and Naomi Epstein, of Demarest, stepped down from the board of directors after serving several years. Sophie Heymann, of Closter, continued as Chair of the Budget Committee. Cathie Mick, of Fort Lee, is heading up the Nominating Committee.

The Northern Valley League chapter also renewed its commitment to Voters Service, a core activity of the league, to provide information to voters in preparation for the Nov. 8 general election. Activities will include voter registration drives, and scheduling and moderating local candidate forums.
