Mahwah Adult Soccer Prepping for ‘Exciting’ Season
Thursday is the last day to register for the league.

Anyone looking to lace up their cleats for the Mahwah Adult Soccer League needs to sign up by Thursday. According to one of the team captains Anthony Chuck, residents can sign up to play in the league online, or at the township Recreation Building on East Ramapo Avenue from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m.
“We had a great season last year, the adult soccer program in Mahwah was very popular,” he said. “We had over 100 players on 10 teams last season.”
This year, the league is looking to replicate its success.

For a $40 registration fee, applicants are placed on teams that spread talent and experience equally throughout the league, Chuck said. Teams play 7-on-7 games twice a week from June through August.
Chuck said there are three reasons most people decide to sign up for the sport: the cardiovascular exercise it provides, a fostering of the growing love of the game, and camaraderie. The league is only open to Mahwah residents, so Chuck said it’s a great way for residents to meet their neighbors, and form connections.

“It’s a really diverse league,” he said. “We have players from 18 to people in their 70s. It is really fun for all skill levels, the games are exciting and fun.”
Play starts June 4, but registration closes Thursday. Check the township website for more information about adult soccer, and the other adult sport leagues in Mahwah.
