Mahwah Crime Rates Fall

New Jersey State Police show that crime has decreased since the first half of 2013.

New Jersey State Police have released their Uniform Crime Report for the first two quarters of 2014. According to their reports, Mahwah’s crime index has fallen from 66 to 59 in the last year, an 11 percent decrease in crime.

After four incidents of violent crime between January and June 2013, Mahwah saw only one such incident in the first half of this year.

Nonviolent crime incidents have also fallen, from 62 in the first half of 2013, to 58 incidents in the first half of 2014.
