Mahwah DPW Director Suspended for Claims of 'Inappropriate Material' Viewed on Computers

Ed Sinclair was presented a letter Monday informing him of a 20 day immediate suspension with pay pending termination.

Mahwah Mayor William Laforet took steps to fire Ed Sinclair, the director of the Department of Public Works, after an anonymous letter claimed the DPW computers were being used to view “inappropriate material” on a ”regular basis.”

Although Sinclair “has not been accused of viewing any of the material and no accusation of criminal wrongdoing has been made,” he was given a 20 day immediate suspension with pay pending termination because he “was responsible for the oversight and management of the Public Works,” NorthJersey.com reported.

Attorney Michael D. Camarinos said Sinclair “denies any wrongdoing” and that he will be “vindicated … when all of the facts come out.”
