Mahwah Girls Tennis Team Clinches Big North Championship

Varsity players finished the season with a 7-1 record.

The Mahwah High School girls tennis team clinched the Big North Patriot Division League Championship, thanks to a 7-1 record against all league opponents, the team's coach, Jason Schmitt, said Tuesday. 

"This was highlighted by a thrilling 3-2 victory over rival Pascack Hills on Oct. 4 and clinched [Tuesday] with a 4-1 victory over Ramsey," he said. 

The varsity line-up includes:

  • 1st singles - Alyssa Baldi
  • 2nd singles - Tori May
  • 3rd singles - Ashna Kapoor
  • 1st doubles - Laurence Chanut and Alexa Didomizio
  • 2nd doubles - Alexa Oliarnyk and Kelly Pushie
  • Injured captain - Victoria Hope
