Improvements To Mahwah Pool Coming, Bids Sought

The township of Mahwah is accepting bids now through Aug. 18 for improvements to the facility's main pool.

MAHWAH, NJ — Bids are being accepted now through Aug. 18 for improvements to the Mahwah municipal pool on Darlington Avenue, the township's Qualified Purchasing Agent Joanne Becker said in an advertisement for bids.

The township intends to have the work on the facility's main pool start no later than Sept. 6, 2022, and have it completed by April 28, 2023, the advertisement said.

The scope of work will consist of hydro-blasting the existing pool shell and installing new interior finish. It also includes the repairing of expansion joints, replacing a portion of the concrete pool deck, installing new piping and constructing various amenities.

An alternate bid for work not included in the base bid is replacement of the rest of the concrete deck around the perimeter of the pool.

Another alternate bid includes abandonment of the pool's diatomaceous earth filter for installation of a fiberglass-reinforced sand filter, and any incidental site work within the filter room.

All shop drawings by the contractor shall be submitted to the township's engineering company, Boswell Engineering, in a suitable timeframe to avoid delays to the work schedule, the advertisement said.
