Mahwah Municipal Alliance to Hold Prescription Drug, Heroin Epidemic Parent Program Jan. 29

Participants will learn about the trends, how to prevent, and understand the behaviors that lead to drug abuse.

The Mahwah Municipal Alliance will present “The Perfect Storm,” a parent program about battling the prescription drug and heroin epidemic, on Jan. 29 at 7 p.m. at the Sheraton Crossroads, Mahwah.

Parents are invited to attend this powerful program on the teenage heroin epidemic, where participants will learn about the trends, how to prevent, and understand the behaviors that lead to drug abuse.

Speakers will be Douglas Collier, former DEA and drug initiative coordinator, and Ellen Elias, who has 30 years of drug and alcohol prevention experience.

Mahwah is not the only town to take action in informing residence of the heroin epidemic. Just last month, Wyckoff launched a heroin-awareness calendar aimed at combatting drug use after the Police Chief said “[heroin] is here in quantities that is staggering to law enforcement.”
