MAHWAH, NJ — Mahwah is considered one of the best small towns in the state for a quiet retreat to "get away from it all," according to a travel writer for Only In Your State.

New Jersey is heavily urbanized and the most densely populated state, yet there are places to find peace and tranquility. Mahwah is one of those quiet towns, the website said.

Mahwah, in the shadow of the Ramapo Mountains, may be more "urban" than other places on the list, but it is also more secluded than the rest of Bergen County, the website said.
