Mahwah Team Clinches Memorial Day Tournament Win

30 softball teams were in the township all weekend long vying for tournament titles in three divisions.

For the ninth year in a row, 30 softball teams from across the region spent at least part of Memorial Day weekend in Mahwah.

The Mahwah Memorial Softball Tournament hosted games Friday through Monday in the 10u, 12u, and 14u divisions at three fields in town – Commodore Perry, Continental Soldiers, and at Ramapo College.

Of the four teams Mahwah had entered in the tournament, all performed well. One came out on top – the Mahwah 14u team clinched a tournament victory with a 7-2 win over Monroe-Woodbury Monday.

The Mahwah 12u team made it to the finals, but lost to the ultimate winners, the Orangetown Velocity.

In the 10u category, Mahwah lost in the semifinals. The Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders clinched that division title.
