Mahwah Youth Wrestling Team Wins Division in National Conference
Mahwah's Dual team will now compete in the Tri County League Dual Championship on Feb. 18 in Hanover Park.

Congratulations are in order for Mahwah’s Youth Wrestling team.
The Rec Varsity team won their division in the National Conference South with a victory over Hackettstown and Hoptacong two weeks ago.
“It was a huge victory for us as we are going through a rebuilding period with our program,” said Michael Yannette, Assistant Commissioner and Director of Coaching of Mahwah Youth Wrestling. “We have had a lot of very good wrestlers graduate in the past three years and our squad is very young. Our upperclassmen consist of only three eighth graders and three seventh graders.”

After winning the national conference, Mahwah’s Dual team will now compete in the Tri County League Dual Championship on Feb. 18 in Hanover Park.
And although the wrestling team had a match Thursday against Paramus that didn’t go as planned, Yannette says they “had a lot of kids out but ... should be back to full strength for the championship.”
