Man Loses Pulse, Suffers Medical Emergency While Driving In Bergen Co.: Cops
First responders rushed to help a man who suffered a medical emergency while driving and crashed into a Maywood home, police said.
MAYWOOD, NJ — It was "clearly luck" that local law enforcement, medical and fire personnel were nearby and able to respond quickly to a man who had no pulse after he was involved in a Sunday crash in Maywood, borough police Chief Terence Kenny said.
In fact, the stars could not have aligned any more in the man's favor, due to the proximity of first responders, Kenny said.
The man crashed into a Maywood home at 9:30 a.m. Sunday, after he had a medical emergency while driving and could not complete a left turn at the intersection of East Central Avenue and Maywood Avenue, police said.

He was not speeding and "driving normally" until he went to make the turn, witnesses told police.
Officers found the driver incapacitated and removed him from the vehicle with no pulse. Medical and fire personnel quickly responded, and a pulse was regained. He was then taken to a local hospital where he regained consciousness, police said.
