Man Threatened Mahwah Resident Using Social Media App, Prosecutors Say
A man was arrested for making threats toward a Mahwah resident via social media, said Bergen County prosecutors.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Bronx man was charged last week with making terroristic threats after contacting a Mahwah resident via a social media application, prosecutors said.
Christian D. Ortiz, 32 was charged with third-degree terroristic threats, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that on Sept. 27, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cybercrimes Unit was notified by the Mahwah Police Department of threats that were received by a Mahwah resident on a social media application.

Investigators traced the activity to Ortiz, prosecutors said.
On Oct. 3 Ortiz surrendered to detectives at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
