More Rain Headed to Mahwah
The township may see an additional three inches of rainfall by Friday evening. A flood watch is in effect through Saturday.

Rain will likely be with Mahwah residents through Friday, and local officials are warning township residents to be aware of the impending forecast.
According to the National Weather Service, rain and thunderstorms are likely to start after noon Thursday, and continue through Friday afternoon. Forecasters expect as much as three more inches of rain might fall on the Mahwah area.
The NWS has issued a Flood Watch in effect from 8 a.m. Thursday through Saturday morning.

Township officials sent the following Nixle alert to residents Wednesday about the storm:
A flood watch has been issued for the Mahwah area from 8 am Thursday through 8 am Saturday. 3 to 4 inches of rain are possible. The storm will develop in the Mahwah area after 3 am Thursday and travel from west to east. The heaviest rain is expected from 2 pm Thursday to 2 am Friday with maximum hourly rates of 1-2 inches. Complicating factors are existing high soil moisture, heavy rain during Thursday evening rush hour, and strong winds. Inland winds of 15-20 mph and gusts of 30-40 mph are expected. Potential impacts include scattered downed tree limbs, and power lines and flooding of flood prone low lying areas. Small stream flooding and river flooding is expected. Ramapo River gauge levels will be issued as necessary.
