NJ Celebrity Hairstylist Kept 450+ Child Porn Files: Prosecutor

RUTHERFORD, NJ - A celebrity hairstylist from North Jersey is accused of viewing, downloading and distributing over 450 files of child sexual abuse content, authorities said.

Daniel R. Koye, 40, of Rutherford, was charged Saturday with second-degree distribution and third-degree possession of child pornography as a result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, according to a statement from Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

As part of the internet child sexual abuse investigation, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on Thursday at Koye’s East Rutherford apartment on Ettrick Terrace. The probe later revealed that Koye used the web to view, download, possess, and distribute over 450 files depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent children.

Koye was arrested on Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia, and was remanded to Clayton County Jail in Georgia pending extradition proceedings, Musella said.

Koye, a wig stylist and social media personality who boasts over 43,000 followers on TikTok, has worked on productions such as The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and Miss Saigon On Broadway and styled celebrities like Vanessa Williams and Carol Burnett, according to his online profiles.

The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office thanked the Rutherford Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations, and Customs and Border Protection for their assistance, as well as the Paramus and Lyndhurst Police Departments and the Bergen and Morris County Sheriff’s Offices for their assistance in the investigation.
