Parade, Ceremony Set for Memorial Day in Mahwah
A group in town is still working toward an upgrade at Veterans Park, where the ceremony will be held.

Mahwah will commemorate Memorial Day this year with an annual parade, set for next Monday morning.
According to a posting on the township website, the parade will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church on Island Road. The parade will end up at Veterans Park, and be immediately followed by a Memorial Day ceremony at the park.
The annual event is co-sponsored by the township Rec Department and the VFW Post #7124.

Plaques Still Available
Veterans Park is in the midst of an upgrade that should have it looking a bit different in time for the Veterans Day ceremony happening there this November. According to Beautification Committee Chair Lisa DiGiulio, a project that will place 12 monuments around the park that will serve as a permanent tribute to township residents who have served time in the armed forces, is almost complete.

Each monument will represent a different war.
Township residents are being encouraged to purchase plaques to donate them to the project. According to DiGiulio, nine of the $700 plaques have already been purchased, and three are remaining.
