Incoming Vice Dean Of Ramapo College Program Named To State Task Force

A school superintendent scheduled to join Ramapo College was named to a state task force established to tackle educator shortages.

MAHWAH, NJ — A school superintendent who is scheduled to become Ramapo College's Assistant Dean of Teacher Education in January was selected to serve on a task force established by Gov. Phil Murphy to address the state's teacher shortages.

Adam Fried, who resigned as the Harrington Park school superintendent, effective Dec. 31, accepted the position of assistant dean, which he will assume Jan. 1. He has 16 years experience as a school leader.

“Dr. Fried’s experience will allow him to contribute tremendous insight and expertise to the group as they work to address the educator shortage in New Jersey,” Aaron Lorenz, Dean of the Ramapo College's School of Social Science and Human Services, said.

Fried was selected to become a member of the Task Force on Public School Staff Shortages, which was created under an executive order signed by Murphy to develop recommendations to increase teachers and support staff in the state's K-12 schools.

“This task force will collaborate on methods to restore stability to the teaching profession and ensure students receive the quality education they deserve," Dr. Angelica Allen-McMillan, Acting Commissioner of Education.
