Third Annual Charity Game to Honor Late Mahwah Grad

The DZ Foundation, set up in honor of 2011 MHS graduate Dan Zolotorofe, has raised over $23K so far to support juvenile diabetes research.

For the third year in a row, members of the Mahwah Community will be coming together to honor a Mahwah graduate who died in 2011.

Dan Zolotorofe suffered from Type I Diabetes, and died after suffering a heart attack caused by complications from the disease. Not long after his death, a group of Zolotorofe’s friends formed the DZ Foundation, a charity that raises money to support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation research, and award scholarships to a Mahwah High School students in Dan’s name.

Each January, the Foundation hosts a charity basketball tournament at Mahwah High School, and this year’s is happening Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

“This event brings a wide range of people who attended Mahwah High School and the neighboring towns out to support a great cause and most participants all have a story about a time they spent with Dan which is really special.”

The Foundation is still accepting team sign-ups for the game, but space is limited. Get information on playing in or attending the tournament on the DZ Foundation’s website and Facebook page.
