MAHWAH, NJ – Renovations are underway to transform a former bank into Mahwah’s new post office, according to postal officials.

The new location at 1037 MacArthur Boulevard is expected to open in Spring 2020, George Flood, a United States Postal Service spokesman, said.

Mahwah's former longtime post office on East Ramapo Avenue has been closed since March, after a leaking roof shuttered the retail portion of the building. That location, Flood said, has since been turned back over to the landlord.

Since the closure, residents have still received delivery or have the option of retrieving mail at the carrier annex on Industrial Avenue.

But, for residents who need to purchase stamps, ship a box or send an expedited item, they've had to do business at the nearby Ramsey, Saddle River or Allendale post offices as a temporary alternative. Stamps are also sold at face value in Mahwah at the Acme and CVS on Franklin Turnpike.

Flood said, "Another convenient option it to use our USPS.com website, which is like a Post Office at your fingertips. On USPS.com you can purchase stamps, print mailing labels with postage to ship packages, order free shipping supplies, and schedule a package pick-up while at your computer keyboard."
