Woman Hospitalized After Train Strikes Car In Bergen County: NJ Transit

A NJ Transit train struck a car in Bergen County Friday morning, causing a woman to be hospitalized.

RAMSEY, NJ — A woman was sent to the hospital Friday morning after a train slammed into her car in Bergen County, said NJ Transit.

A train not in passenger service was being moved along the tracks from Hoboken to Suffern when it struck her vehicle near Ramsey Station around 5:42 a.m., the agency said.

The woman inside the car was taken to the hospital with "unknown injuries," said NJ Transit spokesman John Chartier.

There were no customers on the train and no injuries to the crew, he said.

Trains on the Main-Bergen County Line were still delayed for as long as 30 minutes, said notifications from the agency around 9 a.m.
