A woman had to be extricated from her vehicle and taken to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash in Hasbrouck Heights, police said.

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — A woman was extricated from her car and taken to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash that snarled traffic on Route 17 North for about an hour Monday, Hasbrouck Heights police Sgt. John Behr said.

A chain-reaction crash was set off when a Belleville motorist driving a Ford F-550 rear-ended a Toyota Prius, driven by the woman, that was stopped in traffic. The woman was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, Behr said.

A traffic summons was issued to the Ford driver, and three of the involved vehicles were towed away from the scene, police said.
