Alice Carter Mead will offer a discussion and display on Sunday, April 16, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. There is a $10 donation.

All funds raised go toward preserving and operating the Village Inn, an historic landmark in town that provides historical education for visitors and other fun events at holidays.

During the Battle of Monmouth on June 28, 1778, Englishtown may have been a crossing point for Colonial troops under George Washington’s command, a borough history says. The Village Inn dates to 1728 and became a tavern in 1766, the history says.

Visit the Village Inn website to learn about ways to enjoy the Inn and to donate. The next regular tour is March 19.
