Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide In Crash That Killed Wife
Benjamin Futerman, 32, is accused of driving aggressively and recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 mph prior to the fatal crash.
MANALAPAN, NJ — Two men have been charged in a high-speed car crash last month on Route 9 in Old Bridge that killed one person and seriously injured five others, the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office said.
Benjamin Futerman, 32, has been charged with one count of first-degree aggravated manslaughter and one count of second-degree vehicular homicide in his wife's death.
Wilson Familia, 22, of Old Bridge, has been charged with one count of second-degree aggravated assault, one count of fourth-degree assault by auto and two counts of third-degree aggravated assault for the injuries sustained by his passengers.

Both men are accused of driving aggressively and recklessly at speeds exceeding 100 mph prior to the crash that occurred at 1:05 a.m. on June 2 at the intersection of Rt. 9 and Ferry Road.
According to authorities, Futerman was driving a BMW at the time of the crash and Familia was driving a Ford Mustang.

Kristina Godich, Futerman’s wife, was in the front passenger seat of the car and pronounced dead at the scene. According to Godich’s obituary, she was 31. The couple had a son.
Following the crash, Futerman was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in critical condition and released days later, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Familia and the three passengers with him at the time of the crash were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for treatment.
Other cars were also involved in the collision, making the crash a multi-car pile-up on Route 9.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, all other drivers and occupants involved in the crash were treated at the scene and released.
On Monday, Familia turned himself in to the Old Bridge Police. On Wednesday, Futerman also turned himself in to the Old Bridge Police.
Both Familia and Futerman had first appearances in Middlesex County Criminal Court, and were released to be monitored by police until trial.
The investigation was led by Officer Steve Connolly of the Old Bridge Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
