Student Who Tweeted About 'Hunting' at Manalapan HS Arrested
The juvenile male will be charged with terroristic threats and false public alarm.

A Manalapan High School student who issued a threatening tweet via Twitter leading to a school lockdown on Wednesday, March 13 has been arrested by Manalapan Township Police. The juvenile, a male sophomore student, will be charged with terroristic threats and false public alarm, according to police.
The Manalapan High School administration was made aware of the boy's tweets, which contained threats by him that he intended to bring a firearm to the school and "go hunting", police said.
Once school officials were aware of the tweets the high school was immediately placed in a stationary lockdown and police were contacted. Manalapan administration detained the juvenile, as they were able to identify the student who sent the tweets. School security checked the student and found him to not be in possession of any weapons. His belongings and locker were also checked and no weapons were found, police said.

Police were dispatched to the school at 11:11 a.m. today where they conducted an investigation. The lockdown of the school lasted for approximately one hour. The student was turned over to police once they arrived at the scene.
During the lockdown, another Manalapan High School student tweeted about hiding in the ceiling of the school. This tweet was then re-tweeted by a second student which caused a widespread rumor throughout the school over Twitter.

The student who tweeted about being in the ceiling was located by police; he was found to be in his designated classroom and not in the ceiling. Both students were brought to the Manalapan High School administration office for questioning. Police intend on further investigating this incident, but no criminal charges have been filed against these two juveniles, police said.
