White-Gloved Burglar Tries To Enter Two Manalapan Homes: Police

Manalapan police say two homeowners have encountered a white-gloved, black-clothed burglar trying to enter their homes.

MANALAPAN, NJ — Police here reported several attempts of people trying to gain entrance to homes, including two instances in which the burglar was wearing all black and had on white gloves, police said.

The encounters with the white-gloved burglar were both reported on Jan. 7, both on Silverleaf Way, police reports said.

There were several instances of attempted burglary, with suspects testing windows or doors. All incidents are being investigated by police.

Here are the incidents, as described in the weekly police report prepared by Capt. Leonard Maltese:

  • On Jan. 7, a 42-year-old Manalapan resident said a person wearing all black with white gloves entered a Silverleaf Way residence through an unlocked window. No items were reported stolen or missing.
  • On Jan. 7, a 54-year-old Manalapan resident told police at 4 a.m. that a person also wearing all black with white gloves entered his Silverleaf Way residence through an unlocked window. No items were reported stolen or missing.
  • On Jan. 7, a 35-year-old Manalapan resident reported that a person tried to gain access to a Fells Drive residence, resulting in damage to a window screen. The window was locked and the suspect left the area.
  • On Jan. 7, a 50-year-old Manalapan resident reported that a person tried to gain entry to a Monticello Court residence.
  • On Jan. 7, a 53-year-old Manalapan resident reported that a person forcibly entered a Union Hill Road residence and removed items of unknown value.
  • On Jan. 6, a 51-year-old Manalapan resident said a person forcibly entered the first-floor window of a Pension Hill Road residence, but immediately fled the scene. No items were reported missing or stolen.

In another incident, a 73-year-old Manalapan resident told police on Jan. 5 that someone entered an unlocked car between Dec. 20 and Jan. 3 that was parked in the driveway of a Whitemarsh Drive residence and removed items valued at $40.

Police again advise residents to keep doors and windows locked and to keep cars locked and key fobs secured.
