4 Injured As Boat Runs Aground In Jersey Shore Inlet

The U.S. Coast Guard said the four adults were taken to a hospital for treatment.

BELMAR, NJ — Four people were injured when their boat ran aground in Shark River Inlet on Thursday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

The Coast Guard was notified about the incident about 8 a.m. Thursday, a Coast Guard spokeswoman said, and Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet responded with its 29-foot response boat small crew.

The four people were taken off the grounded boat to waiting emergency medical services crews on shore, who took them to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for evaluation and treatment, she said.

The four were adults, but the spokeswoman did not have further details about them.

The report from the response crew did not say where in the inlet the 28-foot boat ran aground. It was towed to the Shark River Hills Municipal Marina by a commercial towing company, the Coast Guard said.
