Back To School Plans For Manasquan School District Released
The district's superintendent released a letter on the district's website on Monday.
MANASQUAN, NJ – In a letter posted to the school district’s website, Manasquan’s superintendent of schools, Frank Kasyan, addressed the concern of parents in the wake of Governor Phil Murphy’s directive making mask-wearing in schools mandatory in September.
“Our focus is to keep our students safe, secure, and in school. To this end, we will be following Governor’s Executive Order Number 251, which mandates masks in K-12 schools with limited exceptions. Please note that all protocol and procedures herein are subject to change at any time during the school year,” Kasyan’s letter said.
The district plans to return to a normal school schedule with all students in attendance with no plans for changing but the district will be using social distancing and ventilation to help make the school environment as safe as possible.

Kaysan said that school officials are confident that the ventilation systems will make it comfortable for mask-wearing. Still, with the start of the school year bringing warm temperatures, the district will keep up to date on any new directives and whether or not mask-wearing will be optional at the start of the year.
“We are confident that our systems can provide a very high indoor air quality, however, since we do plan to have windows open, it will limit our ability to regulate temperatures in the building,” Kaysan said.

“As we are all aware, the beginning of the school year is often marked by high temperatures, so we will continue to monitor any updates to guidance, as well as the weather, and keep everyone apprised on whether or not masks will be optional at the start of the school year.”
The letter also sets the district’s guidelines for isolation in case of a positive COVID-19 test or found to be in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, which is 10 days. The quarantine period can be shortened to a week if the person quarantining takes a test between five and seven days of isolation and its negative.
