BELMAR, NJ - One write-in candidate has secured one of three open spots on the Belmar Board of Education, according to the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office.

Out of a total 651 write-in ballots, school board newcomer Jennifer Nicolay garnered 260 votes, securing herself a seat on the Belmar Board of Education, according to official results from the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office. Nicolay previously served on the Belmar Borough Council for eight years until her defeat in 2018 by Republican Pat Wann.

Write-in candidate Brian Conklin received 238 votes. A breakdown of the remaining 153 write-in votes was not provided by the county clerk’s office.

The two other candidates who scored seats on the board are incumbent Michele Lomas (1,275 votes) and Erika Salgado (1,295 votes).
