MANASQUAN, NJ — Even The Boss wanted to check out the big surf rolling in from Hurricane Erin.
Bruce Springsteen was spotted at Manasquan Inlet Thursday afternoon, and he snapped this photo with two teenage employees from Carlson’s Corner, a longtime oceanfront restaurant right on the inlet.
"It was about 3:30 p.m. Thursday and there were a lot of people already out there looking at the wavesroll in," said Lily Nordell, 17, who works at the restaurant. "Someone told us Bruce was out there, so we went to see. It was him."

This is hardly the first time Springsteen's been spotted in Manasquan: He was a customer at Carlson's Corner last summer, she said, and Springsteen is frequently spotted all over Monmouth County, such as grabbing ice cream at his rumored favorite ice cream spot, Jersey Freeze in Freehold Township, and getting breakfast at his local diner, Roberto's Freehold Grill, in Freehold borough.
Springsteen lives locally with his wife, on a horse farm in Colts Neck.
Nordell said dozens of people were lined up to see the surf at the famous inlet Thursday, and Fox News had a crew there as well. There were reports of 12- to 17-foot waves along the Jersey Shore Thursday. A high surf advisory will remain in place through 8 p.m. Friday and a high rip current risk is in effect through Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service.
Nearly all beaches along the Jersey Shore were closed to swimming Friday.
Surf heights are expected to recede to 3 to 5 feet on Saturday.
