A cloudy day at the beach, gradually becoming sunny in late afternoon

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly cloudy skies today on Monmouth County beaches with isolated showers possible.
Winds will be from the northwest at 5 miles per hour, switching over to the west in the afternoon.
There's a low risk of rip currents today, but rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim along or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.

Waves will be around 3 feet, with southerly swells of 2 to 3 feet. The surf temperature is 71 degrees. The ultraviolet index is a 9, despite the cloud cover, so don't forget the sunscreen. There is no lightning threat today.
Low tide at Belmar rolled in at 5:59 a.m. High tide will arrive at 12:28, followed by another low tide at 6:28 p.m.
