Coastal Monmouth County Beach Report For July 17, 2017

Partly sunny skies are forecast for today, with a chance of later afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

The National Weather Service is calling for partly sunny skies at Monmouth County beaches today, with a slight chance of late afternoon showers and thunderstorms.

Highs will be in the low 80s, with southerly winds from 5 to 10 miles per hour, switching to the southeast at 10 to 15 miles per hour in the afternoon.

The rip current risk today is low, but rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.

Waves will be two feet high, with southeasterly swells of around two feet. The surf temperature is 73 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the National Weather Service considers high. The lightning risk today is low.

Low tide at Belmar rolled in at 7:54 a.m. High tide will arrive at 2:15 p.m., followed by another low tide at 8:54 p.m.
