Coastal Monmouth County Beach Report For July 19, 2017

The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert for today.

The National Weather Service is calling for another mostly sunny day at the beach, with a chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms.

Highs will be in the mid-80s. Winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 miles per hour.

The NWS has also issued a Code Orange air quality alert today. That could affect children, people with asthma, heart disease and the elderly.

There's a moderate risk of rip currents today, so check with lifeguards first about water conditions. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.

The ocean water temperature is now a balmy 75 degrees, much warmer than it was a few weeks ago. Waves will be around two feet high, with southeast swells of two feet.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, which the NWS considers very high. Be sure to slather on the sunscreen. The lightning threat is moderate, which means thunderstorms are possible.

Low tide at Belmar rolled in at 10:01 am. High tide will arrive at 4:18 p.m., followed by another low tide at 10:59 p.m.
