Don't Go Near The Water - Dangerous, Life-Threatening Conditions At Monmouth County Beaches Today

National Weather Service issues high surf advisory and high risk of rip currents for today, stay out of the water

MONMOUTH COUNTY - No swimming today, anywhere. Red flags will be flying up and down Monmouth County beaches today due to turbulent ocean waters.

The National Weather Service has issued a high surf advisory into Wednesday morning. Waves will be from 5 to 7 feet high, with easterly swells of 5 to 7 feet. The ocean water temperature is 72 degrees.

There's also a high risk of rip currents into late tonight.

"A high risk of rip currents means dangerous and life-threatening conditions exist for all people entering the surf," the NWS said. "People visiting the beaches should stay out of the high surf."

Skies will be cloudy today with rain and a high around 70 degrees. in the low temperatures in the low 70s. Winds will be from the east at 20 per hour.

The ultraviolet index is a 2, which the NWS considers low. There is no lightning threat.

Low tide at Belmar rolled in at 7:20 a.m. High tide will arrive at 1:54 p.m., followed by another low tide at 8:15 p.m.
