MANASQUAN, NJ – Monmouth County gave an important update Monday on the Glimmer Glass Bridge (W-9, along Fisk Avenue between Brielle and Manasquan), which is temporarily closed for likely more than three weeks to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic:
During a routine inspection, Monmouth County public works crews discovered the bridge needed unspecified repairs.
It is anticipated that Glimmer Glass bridge will closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for up to three weeks and there will be intermittent closures for marine traffic. Bridge operators will remain stationed onsite 24/7 to ensure boats can safely pass underneath.

"I called for County personnel to have a complete assessment of the bridge performed so that we can make an informed decision of the totality of the repairs needed," Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone said June 17. "My fellow commissioners and I do not want to have repairs made now — and then find out more work is needed in a few weeks, months, etc. Since the bridge is already closed, let’s figure out if more work needs to be done and get it done now. Our goal is to make sure that the bridge will remain safe when it reopens, while also trying to limit the disruption to traffic this summer."
Vehicles and pedestrians should plan to use an alternate route during this time. Detour signs have been posted.
