Man Injured In Drive-By Shooting In Neptune City: Prosecutor Says

Another man was shot at, but was not injured, police said.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and Neptune City detectives are investigating a drive-by shooting that sent one man to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the chest, Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.

Neptune Township police officers responded to the area of Myrtle Avenue and Stratford Avenue for reports of shots fired at 9:51 p.m. on Feb. 4. They located a male gunshot victim in close proximity to the shooting.

A joint investigation between the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and both police departments revealed that the victim and another man were walking north on Myrtle Avenue in the area of Stratford Avenue when a black SUV, pulled up behind them, rolled the windows down and the occupants of the vehicle began shooting at the two men, striking one of them. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the right side of his chest.

The two men ran from the scene.

The victim was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for treatment and his injury is considered to be non-life-threatening, Gramiccioni said.

No arrests have been made in connection to the shooting.
