Wilmer Lalvay is originally from Ecuador, but was living in the U.S., according to this GoFundMe page, which was created to raise money to send his body back to his native Ecuador to be buried.

Lalvay was found floating face down in the surf when authorities were called to the beach at St. Clair Avenue at 2:05 p.m. that day, a Saturday, Spring Lake Police previously said.
