Manasquan Preschoolers Celebrate Reading and Giving Back

Literacy in Bloom Open House Supported Lightbridge Foundation

Classrooms across Manasquan were buzzing with books, paintbrushes, and imagination as preschoolers at Lightbridge Academy prepared for the recent “Literacy in Bloom” Open House. The event capped off a week-long celebration of literacy, storytelling, and creativity.

Inspired by A Seed Grows by Antoinette Portis, the themed week brought stories to life through hands-on learning. Students explored the wonders of nature by creating and laminating their own books, designing bookmarks, and contributing to a collaborative mural.

Photos from the week show children fully immersed in the creative process—painting, drawing, and proudly assembling their projects in anticipation of Friday’s event. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as classrooms transformed into colorful showcases of student work.

At the Open House, families and community members were welcomed into the space to view the finished creations and hear from the young authors and artists themselves. As part of the event, children sold their handmade bookmarks and crafts, with proceeds supporting the Lightbridge Foundation, which helps local nonprofits and families in need.

Located at 2319 Route 34, Lightbridge Academy in Manasquan provides quality early education and child care programs to children aged six weeks through kindergarten.
