Manasquan’s Glimmer Glass Bridge Reopens: Report

The Glimmer Glass Bridge is one of three in Monmouth County slated for replacement, at a possible cost of $30 million, the report said.

MANASQUAN, NJ — The Glimmer Glass Bridge has reopened following emergency repairs, in time for the July 4th holiday, according to a report.

The bridge, which connects Manasquan and Brielle, was originally closed on June 14 after cracks were found in the steel beams, the Asbury Park Press reported. The repairs were finished more than a week ahead of schedule, the report said.

The Glimmer Glass Bridge, originally built in 1889, is one of three that would be replaced as part of a Monmouth County project, County Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone told the Asbury Park Press. Replacement could cost $30 million, he said.
