Manchester NJ Woman Cancer-Free After 3 Urologic Cancer Diagnoses

At 80, Kathryn Moore of Manchester, NJ, has faced bladder, kidney, and ureter cancers over the past decade. Throughout her journey, the urologic oncology team at Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Ocean University Medical Center has provided constant support.

Kathryn first sought out care with John Chapman, M.D., in 2016 after her bladder cancer diagnosis. “I had just moved back to New Jersey and knew I needed a doctor at Jersey Shore,” Kathryn recalled. “I found Dr. Chapman online and immediately liked him.”

Dr. Chapman treated her successfully with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) immunotherapy, followed by routine cystoscopy procedures to monitor for recurrence. However, during one of her follow-up visits, Dr. Chapman noticed she had declining kidney function. This led to an introduction to Mina Fam, M.D., Medical Director of Urologic Oncology at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, who would begin treatment for kidney cancer.
