Monmouth County Beach Report: Choppy Surf, A Moderate Risk Of Rip Currents On Tap For Today

The National Weather Service says there's a moderate chance of rips today as remnants of tropical storm move out to sea

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies at Monmouth County beaches today with a lower chance of rip currents than earlier this week.

But waves will still be high, from 4 to 6 feet, with easterly swells of 2 to 3 feet. The ocean water temperature is 72 degrees. There's a slight chance of showers with isolated thunderstorms.

There's a moderate chance of rips today. Make sure you swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you alway bring a flotation device with you in the water. The ocean water temperature is 72 degrees.

Highs today will be in the lower 80s. Winds will be from the west at 10 miles per hour. The ultraviolet index is a 7, which the NWS considers high. The lightning threat is low.

So take advantage of the sun while you can. It looks like Saturday and Sunday of Labor Day weekend will be a washout.
