Monmouth County Beach Report: A Cloudy Start To Labor Day Weekend
There's a moderate risk of rip currents and possible thunderstorms on tap for today.

The National Weather Service is calling for a cloudy beginning to Labor Day weekend, with cool temperatures and a chance of showers.
The high today will only be in the upper 60s. The ocean water temperature will actually be warmer than the air at 71 degrees.
The rip current risk is still moderate, which means you must find a guarded beach and check with the local beach patrol before going in. Never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you when you go swimming.

Wave heights will be from 2 to 3 feet, with easterly swells around 2 feet. Winds will be from the east at 10 miles per hour.
The ultraviolet index is a 4, which the National Weather Service considers moderate. The lightning threat is also moderate, which means that thunderstorms are possible.

Low tide at Belmar will roll in at 11:03 a.m. High tide will arrive at 5:24 p.m., followed by another low tide at 11:41 p.m.
