Monmouth County Beaches Offer Some Relief From Inland Heat Today

The National Weather Service is calling for mostly sunny skies today with slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.

Highs today will be in the mid-80s. Winds will be from the northeast at around 5 miles per hour, switching over to the southeast in the afternoon.

The rip current risk is moderate, so be careful. Check with local beach patrols before you go in and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you always bring a flotation device with you when you go in the water.
Waves will be from 2 to 3 feet with southeast swells of around 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 75 degrees.

The ultraviolet index is a 9, so bring the sunscreen. The lightning threat today is low, which means there is little chance of thunderstorms.

High tide at Belmar rolled in 6:54 a.m.. Low tide will arrive at 12:53 p.m., followed by another high tide at 7:14 p.m.
