Monmouth County Beaches: Slowly Clearing Skies, Rip Current Risk Is Still Moderate

The weather over the Labor Day weekend won't be a total washout. The sun will slowly reappear as the day goes on.

It will turn partly sunny, but there's still a chance of showers. Highs today will only be in the mid 70s.

Patchy fog in some areas will slowly dissipate over the morning. Winds will be from the southeast at 15 miles per hour, becoming west in the afternoon.

There's still a moderate risk of rip currents. Always swim on a guarded beach. Never swim alone or at night. The National Weather Service suggests you bring a flotation device with you when entering the surf.

Waves will be from 3 to 4 feet, with easterly swells of around 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 71 degrees.

Most beaches will still be guarded over the holiday weekend, but check with whatever town you's heading to this week to see if and when they are still guarded.

The ultraviolet index is a 7, which the National Weather Service considers high. There is no lightning threat today.

High tide at Belmar rolled in at 5:52 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 11:49 pm. followed by another high tide at 6:10 p.m.
