Reckless Electric Dirt Biker Sought By Manasquan Police

Manasquan Police are looking for this man who they say is recklessly driving a dirt bike through town. He fled from police Nov. 5.

MANASQUAN, NJ — Manasquan Police are looking for this man or teenager who they say is recklessly driving an electric dirt bike through town.

"Another day, another electric dirt bike eluding the police," Manasquan Police wrote in a Facebook post. "Throughout the state of New Jersey, we recently have seen a growing issue with injuries and fatalities involving these bikes."

Police say the dirt bike driver failed to stop at a red light Nov. 5. When officers tried to pull the bike over that same day, the driver eluded police and drove away from police driving more than 50 MPH on East Main Street.

This is not the first time someone driving an e-bike terrorized the streets of Manasquan:

In March and April, police say a Manasquan teenager was seen speeding on an e-bike through the towns of Manasquan, Spring Lake and Bay Head. The teen drove away from police when they tried to stop him. The teen was arrested by Manasquan Police in April and given an unusually tough sentence: Two years of probation; when he becomes of legal driving age he will lose his license for a year; he had to attend a driver's safety course and he had to forfeit the e-bike. A judge also ordered him 60 hours of community service and to write apology letters to police in those three towns.
