Rip Current Risk And Lightning Threat At Monmouth County Beaches Increases
Tropical Storm Gert Is several hundred miles offshore, but its effects will still be felt.

The National Weather Service is calling for a moderate risk of rip currents on Ocean County beaches today, along with an increased lightning threat.
Check with your local beach patrol before you go in the water. Always swim on a guarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.
Skies will be cloudy today, with showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. The thunderstorm risk is moderate. Highs will be in the mid-70s. The ultraviolet index is a 5 today, which the NWS also considers moderate.
