Showers And Thunderstorms Expected At Monmouth County Beaches Today

The National Weather Service predicts a high lightning threat today.

The National Weather Service is calling for cloudy skies with showers and a chance of thunderstorms. The high today will only be around 80 degrees. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 10 miles per hour. The lightning threat is high.

The rip current risk is low today. But rips can still occur near jetties and other structures. Never swim on an unguarded beach and never swim alone or at night. The NWS suggests you bring a flotation device with you in the water.

Wave heights will be from 2 to 4 feet, higher than earlier this week, with southeast swells around 2 feet. The ocean water temperature is 73 degrees.The ultraviolet index is a 6, which the NWS considers high.

High tide at Belmar will roll in at 11:10 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 5:17 p.m., followed by another high tide at 11:31 p.m.
