Very Rough Surf Conditions, High Rip Current Risk Today

Don't go in the water.

The National Weather Service is warning people to stay out of the ocean today, due to life-threatening surf conditions.

The rip current risk is high. Waves will be around 11 feet, with easterly swells of nine feet. The ocean water temperature is 68 degrees. Winds will be from the northeast at 25 to 30 miles per hour.

"These rip currents will be life-threatening to anyone who enters the surf," the NWS says. Anyone visiting the beaches should stay out of the surf."

Skies will be cloudy today, with numerous showers possible. There is no lightning threat. The UV index is a one.

High tide at Belmar arrived at 7:29 a.m. Low tide will arrive at 1:32 p.m, followed by another high tide at 7:42 pm.
