Video Shows Possible Funnel Cloud In Manasquan

The storm left thousands without power and produced some strange effects – some of which was seen in Manasquan.

MANASQUAN – The storm that ripped through New Jersey on Tuesday produced some strange effects.

In Manasquan, Wendy Helfner said she and her husband were in his upstairs office and saw what appeared to be a funnel cloud passing through Manasquan.

They saw it out the window, and then ran to capture it.

"We ran outside and that’s how I got the video," she said. "It was 3 o’clock yesterday (Tuesday)."

Efforts to contact the National Weather Service and confirm what passed through the Manasquan were not immediately successful.

Nearly 4,000 homes remained without power on Tuesday evening after a powerful storm ripped through the region, taking down trees, power lines and damaging homes and vehicles.

Toms River police were asking people to avoid Bay Avenue from Hooper Avenue to Vaughn Avenue because of the widespread damage in the wake of the storm.
